Local organisations have until 17 September to submit a proposal for financial support ranging from €1,000 to €10,000 for initiatives that foster sustainability and social cohesion.
Brussels Airport’s mission is to connect people, businesses and communities. We do this by, among other things, further expanding our role as a multimodal hub for the region and the entire country.
But we also want to fulfil our social responsibilities on a local level. That is why, in 2023, we established the Brussels Airport Fund in collaboration with the King Baudouin Foundation. Through this fund, we support local projects that strengthen social cohesion and/or focus on nature and the environment, energy and mobility.
Third call for proposals
Every year in May, the fund issues a call for proposals aimed at organisations and associations from the 18 municipalities in the airport region. They can apply for financial support ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 euros. The project must be specific in nature. Applications for support for regular operations are not eligible.
Since the fund was established, 31 organisations have received financial support, totalling €264,000. For the current call for proposals, we have €100,000 available.
Are you a member of a local association with concrete plans for a project related to community building, mobility or sustainability? Then submit a motivated application for support via the King Baudouin Foundation website before 17 September 2025.

A few examples of projects that received support
One of the projects realised after the first call in 2023 is 'Veloveutwie,' developed by the non-profit organisation De Hulster in collaboration with the municipality of Kortenberg. This side-by-side tandem bike project promotes sustainable mobility, with a particular focus on less mobile residents of the municipality. Through the Fund, an electric side-by-side tandem bike was purchased, giving volunteer drivers the ability to take vulnerable residents on rides and fostering social bonds within the community.
Last year, the 'Repair Café' in Evere also benefited from financial support. Every month local residents can go there to repair broken appliances and objects with assistance and advice from volunteers. With the Fund's support, the Repair Café was able to purchase new repair tools.
