Roadworks around the airport

The airport is undergoing major development, but remains easily accessible. Below is an overview of the works in and around the airport for June-July.

The Delhaize roundabout will be resurfaced on 6 June, followed by the Esso roundabout on 13 June. During these works, the affected roundabouts will be closed from 4:00 am to 6:00 pm each day.

Delhaize Roundabout – 6 June

  • Sabena Engineering, DHL, TCR, Safran, Lagardère and HiServ will remain accessible via the entrance opposite the BMW Tanghe garage.
  • All other companies will remain accessible via a temporary passage at the Delhaize roundabout. Exit will be possible via the bus gate near building 830 on Haachtsesteenweg.
  • Impact on De Lijn bus services – the following arrangements will apply throughout the day:
    • Bus stops Cargo Discount P2, Cargo Noord and Stationslaan will not be served.
    • Cargo Discount P1: normal service to the terminal; from the terminal, passengers must get off at Cargo 706
    • Alternative stops will be available at Cargo 758, Cargo 741, Koning Albertlaan and Geerensstraat.

Esso Roundabout – 13 June

  • The cargo zone will remain accessible via the Delhaize roundabout, where a temporary passage will be provided. Exit from the zone will be possible via a cut-through at the Esso roundabout.
  • The Delhaize car park will remain accessible.
  • Impact on De Lijn bus services – the following arrangements will apply throughout the day:
    • Bus stops Cargo 758, Cargo 741 and Cargo 739 will not be served.
    • The bus stop at Discount Parking 1 will be relocated by 100 metres and clearly signposted.

From 15 June at 10 PM, the North–South flyover will operate as a one-way road in the south-to-north direction, from the TUI roundabout towards the drop-off area.

Road marking works will take place on 16 and 17 June. During these works, the flyover will remain accessible to vehicles of maximum 16 tonnes.

Important: At the end of the flyover, near P30 and the drop-off area, left turns will no longer be permitted. All traffic must continue either straight ahead or turn right.

The newly redesigned Strabet roundabout, reopening on 15 June, will become the recommended route for all users, including cyclists

Available routes at the end of the North–South flyover

From the right-hand lane:

  • Turn right towards A201.
  • Merge right into drop-off lanes 1 and 2.
  • Continue straight ahead towards guard post Tarmac and P31.

From the left-hand lane:

  • Merge right into drop-off lanes 3 and 4.
  • Turn left into the P30 site via the new access road (please note that this road is not yet displayed on Google Maps or Waze).

From the end of June, work will begin to convert the TUI roundabout into a junction.

The roundabout will remain open and accessible throughout the works, although traffic flows will be adjusted during this period.

The new junction layout will come into effect at the beginning of July.

In August, Brussels Airport and the Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer  (the Roads and Traffic Agency) will carry out resurfacing works in the tunnel located beneath runway 07R/25L on Tervuursesteenweg in Steenokkerzeel.

A preliminary survey will take place on 4 and 5 June. During this period, one lane will be closed in the direction of Steenokkerzeel, and a diversion will be implemented via the E40. Traffic towards Nossegem will remain possible. Cyclists and pedestrians will still be able to use the tunnel in both directions.

During the works scheduled for August, the tunnel will be fully closed and all traffic will be diverted via the E40.

From Monday 15 June, the Strabet roundabout, Vilvoordelaan, and the entrance and exit ramps of the A201 will be fully reopened to traffic. The Strabet exit will also be operational again.

Employees travelling towards Ringlaan will no longer need to use the flyover or the turning loop.

The new Strabet turbo roundabout has been designed to improve both traffic flows and safety in this busy area. By directing drivers into the correct lane well in advance, traffic conflicts are minimised and congestion is reduced, helping to maintain a smooth traffic throughput even during peak traffic hours. This not only improves mobility, but also traffic safety and quality of life in the neighbourhood.

While this marks a major milestone, work in the area is not yet fully completed. Over the coming weeks, the access ramp to the cycle tunnel and sections of the cycle infrastructure will be finalised, along with several planned improvements in Toekomststraat and Bosstraat.

The F201 cycle highway is expected to be fully operational by the end of November 2026. The remaining works will be carried out without impacting traffic.

To ensure safe and smooth access from P31, the drop-off area, and the new car rental zone to the terminal during the Hub 3.0 works, a covered walkway will be installed. It will be visible from mid-June and will connect to the new Diamant entrance.

The walkway is scheduled to open in August and will continue to evolve in line with the progress of the Hub 3.0 construction works.

During June, there will be an additional bicycle park for non-electric bicycles on the arrivals level (level 2), opposite Front Park 2. Easily accessible for those entering the airport via Tech Zuid. You’ll need to walk the final stretch to the curb with your bicycle in hand. The park is accessible to all airport badge holders.

Electric bike? You can still park these in the existing car park, P15S. The cycle path leading there remains available, but will be temporarily rerouted from mid-June due to the construction of a new covered walkway (see 6). Access remains safe and guaranteed until at least September. Further updates will follow.

The P23 motorbike park area located under the Passport building has been open for some time now - have you spotted it yet? It can accommodate at least 36 motorbikes and is exclusively accessible to staff holding an airport badge.

How to get there: Enter via the access to car park P20 under the Passport building. The motorbike parking area is located on the left-hand side.

During the nights of 8–9 June and 9–10 June (10:00 pm – 5:00 am), the Drop-off / P31 / bus station junction will be closed for resurfacing works.

The following diversions and temporary measures will apply:

  • Bus diversions, starting at 9.30 pm
    • De Lijn, MIVB and BAC Shuttles: Temporary Stop at P30
    • Buses requiring longer parking durations, including touring coaches, hotel shuttles and car park shuttles, will be accommodated in the gravel area adjacent to P30.

  • Taxis and crew transport vehicles will follow a diversion route via the drop-off area before proceeding to the new bus station, where passenger pick-up and drop-off operations will take place.
  • P31: will NOT be accessible. Users are advised to use the P30 car park. Access via the Car Rental entrance and follow on-site signage.

  • Guard post Tarmac: accessible on foot and for small vehicles only (passenger cars and light vans). Larger vehicles must use guard post FES West.
  • Q19: no deliveries possible before 5:00 am.
  • North–South Viaduct:
    • Not accessible from north to south (Drop-off → TUI roundabout). A diversion will be in place via the P30 car park.
    • Drop-off & Exit loop remain accessible from south to north (TUI roundabout → Drop-off).
