Always in time for your flight

The new ‘Welcome Back’ tool on brusselsairport.be tells you, based on your destination, the number of passengers, the quantity of baggage and the opening hour of the check-in desk(s) for your flight, when best to arrive at the airport.

In times of 'social distancing', a smooth passenger flow is essential. Travelling has become more complex due to all the required documents. Because of the additional checks, throughput time at check-in is somewhat longer. To make sure that passengers arrive in the departure hall in time so that they can start their holiday without stress, the Passenger Experience team at Brussels Airport came up with the 'Welcome Back' advice.

User-friendly and efficient

The tool is very easy to use. You enter your destination and select the date of departure.  The tool immediately calculates the 30-minute slot in which you should ideally be at the airport. You can request this advice as early as five days before your flight.

If you wish, you can also receive updates on your flight via Messenger and Whatsapp.

Custom advice

Before the Covid-19 crisis, we always asked passengers to be at the airport two hours in advance for a Schengen flight and three hours for a non-Schengen flight.

The new tool takes into account the seat capacity of the aircraft, the estimated amount of baggage, the percentage of passengers who check in online and the number of check-in desks for the flight. Almost entirely customised, in other words. For many flights, the time advice is quite a bit earlier than the two to three hours we used to recommend.

The Welcome Back-tool can easily be accessed from the brusselsairport.be homepage.

National industrial action on Wednesday 25 June

What is the situation?

Due to the national industrial action on Wednesday 25 June in which the staff of the security service provider is participating, we unfortunately expect major disruptions to our airport operations on that day.

What does this mean for my flight?

To ensure the safety of passengers and staff, we have decided, in consultation with the airlines, not to operate any departing flights on 25 June. The airlines will contact passengers directly to inform them of their options.

Arriving passenger flights

As departing passenger flights are cancelled, cancellations are also possible on some arriving flights. We advise all passengers to check the status of their flight with their airline or on our website or the app.

The flight overview on our website will show cancellations only once they are registered by the airline.

Public transport

Significant disruption to public transport is expected. Please consult the website of  NMBS/SNCB and De Lijn for the latest information regarding their services.

We regret the inconvenience caused by this action.
