Brussels Airport opens new multi-storey car park

Infrastructure

The new 8-storey car park is located within walking distance of the terminal and offers 2,500 parking spaces for car rental services and airport staff. Floor 1, 2 and 3 were the first to be occupied. Here's where you will find the service desks, offices and fleet of the car rental companies..

6,000 m² of solar panels and 650 charging points

To allow for the construction of the new car park, the former parking lot on the site was first demolished, with a focus on circularity. In addition to the circular approach to demolition, sustainable technologies were also used in the development of the new building. 6,000 m² of solar panels have been installed on the roof, generating 1,150 MWh per year. A special non-reflective film has been applied to the solar panels to prevent the glare for the pilots. In total, 650 charging points for electric vehicles will also be installed.

A new step towards Hub 3.0

With this new parking facility, Brussels Airport is taking a concrete step within Hub 3.0. The centralisation of car rental services creates space for the future expansion of the arrivals hall and the development of an intermodal hub, where different modes of transport (train, tram, bus, bicycle, and taxi) will be optimally integrated. In a next phase, a footbridge will be constructed to directly connect the car park with the terminal.
