The airport as a transport hub

Living near the airport means you have plenty of mobility options within easy reach. We aim to help solve the mobility challenges in and around Brussels. Our goal is to become an multimodal transport hub, starring bicycles, e-bikes, buses, trams (and tram buses) and trains... All making it easier for passengers, staff and neighbours to leave their cars at home more often.

Our ambition is clear: fewer cars, more alternatives. By 2027, we want to limit car use to a maximum of 65% of passengers and employees. Our target for this year is 50%.

6 initiatives for sustainable mobility

We are turning the airport into a multmodal transport hub. A place where everything comes together: bikes, buses, trams, trains... you name it. Since 2020, the Ringtrambus takes you smoothly to the airport, bypassing the busiest traffic jams. A comfortable alternative to the car.

We’re also looking forward to the arrival of  the airport tram which should be operational by 2030. All these efforts are part of our Sustainable Airport Mobility Plan (SAMP). Find out more here

Cycling to the airport?  We’re making it easier. We’re building new cycle paths and provide bike leasing, secure bike parking facilities and showers for our staff.

Employees are free to choose their workplace if their job allows it. They can telework up to three days a week.

Most of our service vehicles are already electric, hybrid or CNG-powered. Since 2022 we’re going full-electric. Employees also benefit from a flexible mobility budget tailored to their needs.

With our Digital Green Lane apps, truck drivers get assigned time slots for pick-ups. This reduces waiting times and makes deliveries smoother.

We work with partners and authorities to improve mobility. In addition, we actively contribute to initiatives including the Transport Regional Council and the Mobility Council of Flanders (MORA).
