Brussels Airport wins multiple awards

These past few weeks Brussels Airport was presented with several awards.

Double Gold at the World Air Cargo Awards

The Brussels Airport cargo community took home two World Air Cargo Awards. A nice recognition from the industry and a real boost in these challenging times. Congratulations to our own cargo colleagues and of course to the entire cargo community at Brussels Airport.

The prestigious World Air Cargo Awards reward excellence in the cargo industry. Cargo airlines, airports, handlers, forwarders and other companies active in the industry are nominated in 10 categories. Everyone who is involved in the cargo industry can vote for the company, airline or airport that they find excels in the field of service, investments, innovation and processes. Because the traditional award ceremony could not take place, this year’s winners were announced in the Air Cargo Week weekly.

Brussels Airport was elected Airport of the Year 2020. Our airport did better than other large airports with nominees including Changi Airport, Chicago Rockford International, Leipzig/Halle Airport, Miami International Airport and Vienna International Airport. Over the past decade, Brussels Airport was ‘Airport of the Year’ five times, an unprecedented achievement.

Air Cargo Belgium, the association that represents the cargo community at Brussels Airport, also won gold. Air Cargo Belgium took home the Air Cargo Industry Achievement Award 2020 before other nominees Air FranceKLMMartinair, Etihad Cargo, Qatar Airways Cargo, Singapore Airlines Cargo and Swissport.

Director Cargo & Logistics Steven Polmans is proud of this great performance. Air Cargo Belgium winning the Air Cargo Industry Achievement Award this year, is the icing on the cake. " ‘It is great that the industry is once again rewarding the efforts we have been making over the years to further develop the freight service and the freight community at Brussels Airport,” he commented. “We cannot repeat enough that this achievement is the result of the efforts, large and small, of many people inside and outside our company. The recognition that we are getting from the freight industry is fantastic. Sincere encouragement for freight colleagues, but also for the entire airport community at this difficult time!”

Brussels Airport among the most passenger-friendly airports in Europe

Moreover, Consumer Choice Center has ranked Brussels Airport among the top 5 of most passenger-friendly airports in Europe, together with Flughafen Zürich AG, Dusseldorf Airport, Copenhagen Airports A/S and Manchester Airport! A big thank you to all our passengers for their trust! We look forward to welcoming back more of our passengers soon.

National industrial action on Wednesday 25 June

What is the situation?

Due to the national industrial action on Wednesday 25 June in which the staff of the security service provider is participating, we unfortunately expect major disruptions to our airport operations on that day.

What does this mean for my flight?

To ensure the safety of passengers and staff, we have decided, in consultation with the airlines, not to operate any departing flights on 25 June. The airlines will contact passengers directly to inform them of their options.

Arriving passenger flights

As departing passenger flights are cancelled, cancellations are also possible on some arriving flights. We advise all passengers to check the status of their flight with their airline or on our website or the app.

The flight overview on our website will show cancellations only once they are registered by the airline.

Public transport

Significant disruption to public transport is expected. Please consult the website of  NMBS/SNCB and De Lijn for the latest information regarding their services.

We regret the inconvenience caused by this action.
