Fifth Spotters Day at Brussels Airport

For the fifth year running, Brussels Airport organised a Spotters Day on 31 July. Spotters were given the opportunity to spend a whole day behind the scenes of the airport. We were pleasantly surprised and of course delighted with the many reactions to this anniversary edition.
Although we would have liked to welcome everyone who wanted to come, that just wasn’t possible. We had to limit ourselves to thirty spotters.

Click, click, click
It was the fifth time that Brussels Airport organized its Spotters Day and it was once again a highlight for the enthusiasts. They could take pictures from the tarmac, but also in an aircraft hangar and at the airport fire station. Pictures, pictures, pictures.

A bit crazy
Aircraft spotters just love planes. Always have and always will. They simply adore the roar of the engines, the smell of kerosene, the proximity of those giant metal birds. In addition, spotters are also passionate photographers. Two passions that usually produce brilliant images. And a remarkable sense of community. After all, spotters are not competitors. This was confirmed when the special Star Wars Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (JA873A) from All Nippon Airways landed. Mouths open and cameras at the ready. All spotters in one nice line-up. The impressive Emirates Boeing 777-300ER was met with equal enthusiasm.

Smurfs and Star Wars
Some spotters do it to photograph special planes. The Smurf plane, the Star Wars plane. For others it is a matter of shooting as many different types of aircraft as possible. As many models as possible of as many companies as possible. The sky is the limit, a motto we've heard and read before, but which certainly has its place here. Always nice to see passionate people doing their thing. We will meet again next year. For more planes and more pictures.
