Sustainability report 2021 published

On 22 November Brussels Airport Company published its first ever sustainability report. It will serve as a baseline to monitor the airport's progress in terms of sustainable development.

To ensure liveability of our planet and limit global warming to one and a half degrees, all countries, industries and companies worldwide must urgently take action.  This also goes for our industry: aviation will be sustainable or not at all. The sustainability report that BAC made public on 22 November defines Brussels Airport's sustainability ambitions with interim targets and KPIs.  This lays the foundation for monitoring progress in sustainability and making adjustments where necessary.

Shift 2027: Wider horizons, sustainable ambitions

The baseline of Brussels Airport’s new strategy says it all: the airport wants to diversify its activities in a sustainable way. Not only by operating in a more sustainable way itself, but also by taking on a pioneering role to accelerate the transition to a sustainable aviation.  That’s what Brussels Airport is doing – among other things – with Stargate: the Green Deal in which it will work together with 21 partners including three European airports, several knowledge centres and local authorities on 30 concrete projects.  These focus on three main areas: a further decarbonisation, improving the quality of the local environment and promoting a modal shift.

Together for a sustainable airport

How Brussels Airport goes about all this is described in detail in its very first sustainability report.

May this report also be a call to all of you to contribute to the sustainable development of our airport. You can do this through small things such as better sorting waste, using water sparingly, printing only when necessary, opting for soft mobility solutions etc.

Thank you for your collaboration!
