At 7.30 am, the official commemoration ceremony began in the presence of King Philippe, Queen Mathilde, Prime Minister Bart De Wever, victims and relatives of those who lost their lives. The ceremony was accompanied by a choir made up of 54 victims of the Brussels attacks.
At 7.58 am, the time when the first bomb exploded at Brussels Airport, a minute’s silence was observed. After the ceremony, the King and Queen took time to speak with the victims.

Commemorative monument moved to access road
Flight in Mind, the bronze sculpture that stood in the departure hall at the time of the attacks, was badly damaged by the explosion. After restoration, the sculpture was placed in the 'Memorial Garden' in 2017, that became a place of remembrance for victims and relatives. At the request of the bereaved families, the sculpture was relocated alongside the airport access road to make it more visible and more easily accessible to all.
