Three new destinations this summer

The 31st of March is the official start of the summer season at Brussels Airport. A season that looks set to be busy with no fewer than 202 destinations on offer for our avid globetrotters. Whether city breaks, summer sun, distant or exotic destinations, travellers really will be spoilt for choice.

Only a few days before the Easter holidays kicked in, Brussels Airport launched the summer season with new destinations, but also new routes and increased capacity on some destinations.

Three new destinations

Since the 31st of March, Ryanair is taking us to two new destinations that are both a first for Brussels Airport. The Irish company is flying to Pisa four times a week and continues its twice-weekly flights to Amman, which it started this winter. TUI fly, for its part, adds a twice-weekly service to Puerto Plata to its portfolio, another destination launched this winter.
For those heading to the UK, the flights to Newcastle have been taken over by the regional English airline Loganair with 11 weekly flights.

Six new routes

For some destinations, the offer is broadened since the 31st of March. For example, Ryanair is flying to Girona three times a week and is continuing to operate a thrice-weekly service to Marrakesh, a route it launched this winter. airBaltic is flying passengers to Tallinn three times a week. TAP Air Portugal carroes out 14 flights a week to Porto, while LOT Polish Airlines is operating 12 flights a week to the city of Budapest. Finally, Brussels Airlines continues to fly to Kiev four times a week just like it did this winter.

Increased capacity

On the intercontinental network, Brussels Airlines is laying on more flights to Africa, increasing in particular the frequency to Kinshasa to offer a daily flight.

Some airlines are operating larger planes on intercontinental destinations. ANA and Etihad Airways, for example, are now using a B787-9 for the daily flights to Tokyo and Abu Dhabi, while United Airlines introduced a B787-10 for its daily service to Newark.
On European and medium-distance destinations, some airlines have increased the frequency or seating capacity. This is notably the case for Aeroflot, AirBaltic, Air Europa, CSA Czech Airlines, Egyptair, Georgian Airways, Icelandair, SunExpress and Vueling.

National industrial action on Wednesday 25 June

What is the situation?

Due to the national industrial action on Wednesday 25 June in which the staff of the security service provider is participating, we unfortunately expect major disruptions to our airport operations on that day.

What does this mean for my flight?

To ensure the safety of passengers and staff, we have decided, in consultation with the airlines, not to operate any departing flights on 25 June. The airlines will contact passengers directly to inform them of their options.

Arriving passenger flights

As departing passenger flights are cancelled, cancellations are also possible on some arriving flights. We advise all passengers to check the status of their flight with their airline or on our website or the app.

The flight overview on our website will show cancellations only once they are registered by the airline.

Public transport

Significant disruption to public transport is expected. Please consult the website of  NMBS/SNCB and De Lijn for the latest information regarding their services.

We regret the inconvenience caused by this action.
