Brussels Airport is blowing out 60 candles

On 5 July our airport will celebrate its 60th anniversary. We can’t let this pass without a party, and we have a whole lot of events on the programme.

Between 8 and 9 am, our CEO, Arnaud Feist, will cut the special birthday cake, before the screening in the departure hall. Then, between 8 and 10 and between 12 and 2, hostesses will be serving small cakes in the departure hall and in the reclaim hall, in the Connector (Pier A) and in the Gallery of light (pier B) next to the pianos. There is enough cake and music for everybody! And it continues in the arrival hall where the jukebox will take you on a trip down memory lane.

The airport staff will be treated to a cake pop or a delicious ice-cream at various locations. Ice-cream will be served at Cargo M, DHL Aviation, Belgocontrol, Tui, Brussels Airlines, Deloitte, CCOT, Aviapartner and Swissport. In the small hours, we will surprise the spotters at the spotting platform 25L/07 with a delicious cup of steaming hot coffee. Everybody is welcome to enjoy these treats.

And we won’t be celebrating our birthday just on July 5, but throughout the summer!
From June to November, various events and campaigns will be held in the context of our sixtieth anniversary. We will be celebrating with the best Belgium has to offer! The airport has already been dressed up for the occasion, there are a whole range of events and you can also participate in a photo competition with attractive prizes.

Last but not least: on 7 September we will have our anniversary party! Save the date – more to come on this topic soon.

60 years Brussels Airport: a retrospective

We would like to take you on a trip through time. We turn the clock back to 1958 and allow our passengers and staff to discover our rich history with a retrospective in the connector (right after screening). You can see photos of the opening of the Satellite Building in 1973, the inauguration of pier A in 2002 and the opening of Connector in 2015. The photos show off the airport a unique place where people come together and which has been the setting for many important Belgian and European highlights.
Check the retrospective also online on 60years.brusselsairport.be

Brussels Airport is ready to turn the summer into one long unforgettable party! You too? Share your favourite airport memory via social media with the hashtag #BrusselsAirport60years !

National industrial action on Wednesday 25 June

What is the situation?

Due to the national industrial action on Wednesday 25 June in which the staff of the security service provider is participating, we unfortunately expect major disruptions to our airport operations on that day.

What does this mean for my flight?

To ensure the safety of passengers and staff, we have decided, in consultation with the airlines, not to operate any departing flights on 25 June. The airlines will contact passengers directly to inform them of their options.

Arriving passenger flights

As departing passenger flights are cancelled, cancellations are also possible on some arriving flights. We advise all passengers to check the status of their flight with their airline or on our website or the app.

The flight overview on our website will show cancellations only once they are registered by the airline.

Public transport

Significant disruption to public transport is expected. Please consult the website of  NMBS/SNCB and De Lijn for the latest information regarding their services.

We regret the inconvenience caused by this action.
