SummerHolidays2021_v2.docx.png

01.07.2021

Happy Summer Holidays !

Here you can read the English translation of Mr Arnaud Feist's video message:

Dear airport colleagues,

We have overcome many crises together, crises from which we have emerged stronger each time.

The crisis brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic is the longest we have experienced. Not only because it affects the entire world and is lasting so long, but also because of its impact on our activities, and on our mental and physical well-being.

Now that the vaccination campaign is in full swing and that the European Digital Covid Certificate is implemented, we are resolutely emerging from this very long tunnel.

Obviously, we will need a few more years to get back to pre-crisis levels. So, we will have to show perseverance and solidarity for a while longer.

But we also have reasons for optimism:

On 27 November 2020, the first ever Covid-19 vaccine flight in the world took off from our airport and, to date, over 105 million vaccines have already been shipped from Brussels Airport. This year, cargo traffic is breaking records month after month and the demand is still on the up.

The reopening of the borders and the lifting of the ban on non-essential travel bring life back into our terminal: 170 destinations, 50 active airlines and 2.5 million passengers expected in July and August. At the end of June, we passed the 30,000 passengers-a-day mark for the first time since the start of the crisis in March 2020.

On top of that, we recently received two distinguished guests: the American President Joe Biden landed at our airport and, on the 10th of June, King Philip came to visit to support our efforts to restart our activity.

Yes, there is clearly hope again and it is thanks to you all!  Thank you for all your efforts over this past year and a half.

I wish all of you who are taking a vacation this summer, a great time. And those of you who remain at work during this promising restart: lots of success!

We are Brussels Airport!

See you soon!

National industrial action on Wednesday 25 June

What is the situation?

Due to the national industrial action on Wednesday 25 June in which the staff of the security service provider is participating, we unfortunately expect major disruptions to our airport operations on that day.

What does this mean for my flight?

To ensure the safety of passengers and staff, we have decided, in consultation with the airlines, not to operate any departing flights on 25 June. The airlines will contact passengers directly to inform them of their options.

Arriving passenger flights

As departing passenger flights are cancelled, cancellations are also possible on some arriving flights. We advise all passengers to check the status of their flight with their airline or on our website or the app.

The flight overview on our website will show cancellations only once they are registered by the airline.

Public transport

Significant disruption to public transport is expected. Please consult the website of  NMBS/SNCB and De Lijn for the latest information regarding their services.

We regret the inconvenience caused by this action.
