The highlights of 2021

Although 2021 failed to live up to expectations, we did achieve a great deal over the past 12 months.

2021 did not deliver the return to normality that we all hoped for. With 9.4 million passengers we performed significantly better than in 2020 but remained at only 35% of the number of passengers in pre-Covid 2019.

In 2021 our resilience was once again put to the test. Yet, together, we were able to achieve a great deal. Our cargo division recorded its best result in 15 years and over 800 million vaccines were shipped through our airport. There were new initiatives to further improve the passenger experience. We welcomed new airlines, King Philippe came to visit and we launched Stargate, a joint project in which 22 partners are working together towards a sustainable future for the aviation industry.

We summarised the highlights of 2021 for you in a nice retrospective video. Enjoy!

Prayer and meditation

Need a moment to yourself, a space to pray or meditate?

Past security screening, both in Pier A and Pier B you will find several prayer and meditation rooms. There are dedicated spaces for followers of the Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Orthodox and Protestant faith. In addition, we also provide meditation rooms for freethinkers.

These rooms are not only open to passengers, but also to staff with an airport ID badge giving access to Pier A and Pier B.

All rooms are open 24/7. Obviously, the counsellors are not always present, but they are always available by phone to lend a sympathetic ear.  It is also possible to make an appointment.

  • Catholic prayer room - 02 753 68 76
  • Islamic prayer room - 02 753 45 53
  • Jewish prayer room - 0484 03 97 54
