Are you worried about the coronavirus?

The Coronavirus, now referred to as COVID-19, is dominating the news. As a member of the airport community, you may be concerned about this. We understand your concerns and want to keep you fully informed.

According to the Federal Public Service of Public Health there is as yet no heightened risk for our country and, consequently, for those who work at or travel through the airport. As a general rule, a good hand hygiene is the best infection control precaution.

Preventive measures are in place on all direct flights from China to Brussels. To sum up:

  • On each flight operated from Beijing to Brussels, the crew on board will have the PLC (Passenger Locator Card) filled in by all passengers. This allows us to quickly locate and contact the passengers if necessary.
  • On arrival, the crew will hand over the completed PLCs to Saniport (which is standing by in the disembarkation bridge).
  • During disembarkation, the crew will hand out leaflets to passengers with additional information about COVID-19 (Coronavirus).
  • After disembarkation, Saniport will carry out a general hygiene check of the aircraft (similar to the one applied to flights from Africa). Once the green light has been given, the cleaning company can carry out the standard cleaning of the aircraft.

We emphasise the purely preventive nature of these measures, which are devised to ensure that we are prepared for every eventuality and to provide passengers with as much information as possible. It is important to note that before boarding in China, all passengers are already checked (body temperature measurement) and again on board by the crew.

Our airport is in constant consultation with the relevant authorities. The FPS Public Health is closely monitoring the situation in China and other affected countries and immediately informs us of any additional measures that may be necessary. If need be, we are ready, as an airport, to implement any required measures immediately.

In addition, a leaflet summarising the hygiene instructions is also distributed in the airport buildings. Don't you have a copy yet? They are available at the information desks in the arrivals and departures halls.

Did you know?

COVID-19 is a virus similar to the flu virus. To prevent its spread, we ask you to follow the usual hygiene precautions.

  • Wash your hands regularly
  • Need to cough or sneeze? Do it in the crook of your elbow rather than in your hand.
  • Use paper tissues and immediately dispose of them after use

National industrial action on Wednesday 25 June

What is the situation?

Due to the national industrial action on Wednesday 25 June in which the staff of the security service provider is participating, we unfortunately expect major disruptions to our airport operations on that day.

What does this mean for my flight?

To ensure the safety of passengers and staff, we have decided, in consultation with the airlines, not to operate any departing flights on 25 June. The airlines will contact passengers directly to inform them of their options.

Arriving passenger flights

As departing passenger flights are cancelled, cancellations are also possible on some arriving flights. We advise all passengers to check the status of their flight with their airline or on our website or the app.

The flight overview on our website will show cancellations only once they are registered by the airline.

Public transport

Significant disruption to public transport is expected. Please consult the website of  NMBS/SNCB and De Lijn for the latest information regarding their services.

We regret the inconvenience caused by this action.
