The renovation work on runway 07R/25L, which began on 12 July, was completed on schedule. Since 28 August, aircraft can once again land on runway 25L.
The previous major renovation took place in 2015. This time, the asphalt was removed over an area of 290,000 m² (about 40 football pitches) down to the original concrete from 1958. Four layers of asphalt were poured over the entire runway, amounting to about 90,000 tonnes of asphalt!
In addition, the runway lighting and drainage systems were also renewed. After such extensive renovation, the runway should be good for many years to come.
The video below gives a good impression of the scope of the work.
