Almost 2.5 million passengers in July

2,450,771 passengers travelled through Brussels Airport in July, up 5% from July 2023 and the highest monthly number since 2019.

This growth was mainly driven by the start of the summer holidays, which also explains why there were more departing than arriving passengers in July.

10% of the departing passengers were transfer passengers. This is lower than last year, due to the decrease in the number of intra-European transfer passengers and the usual high number of Belgian holiday travellers in summer.

The ten most-visited countries in July were Spain, Türkiye, Greece, Italy, Germany, Morocco, the United States, Portugal, France and the United Kingdom.

Flown cargo volumes: up 6% compared to July 2023

Flown cargo volumes increased by 6% in July compared to July of 2023, totalling 51,000 tonnes. Overall cargo volumes likewise increased by 6% to approximately 61,000 tonnes.

The full-cargo segment fell by 3%, while belly cargo grew by a strong 36%. Express services fell slightly, by 2%, but was countered by trucked volumes, which were up by approximately 9%.

Flight movements: an increase of 3%

We recorded 19,212 flight movements in July, up 3% on the same month last year. The number of passenger flights also increased by 3% compared to July 2023. There were, on average, 152 passengers on board, two more than in July 2023 and an all-time record. The number of cargo flights also recorded an increase of 3%, mainly due to an increase within the full-cargo segment (+19%).

More detailed figures are available in our press release.
