New stage in the development of the cargo zone

Infrastructure

On 4 June, a first pillar ceremony was held for a new logistics building on a 14,000 m² site in the eastern part of Brussels Airport’s cargo zone.

The site became available following the demolition of an obsolete building. The new building project is part of a modernisation programme for the entire cargo zone, aimed at a more efficient use of the available space with a focus on environmental considerations and road safety.

Sustainable and energy-efficient

The project aims to achieve BREEAM Excellent certification, an internationally recognised standard for buildings designed according to high sustainability and energy efficiency criteria. The new facility will integrate several sustainable features, including post and beam construction, solar panels, heat pumps, rain gardens, a rainwater storage tank, charging stations, and bicycle parking facilities.

Supporting partners in their ambitions

The logistics building, due for completion in 2027, will be divided into two units with warehouses and offices for Yusen Logistics and Air Promotions Agencies. Both companies have been operating at Brussels Airport for many years and wish to further expand their activities. With this new building, we aim to support their ambitions.
