With the Hub 3.0 project, we are preparing our airport for the future. The project is not only aimed at improving the experience of passengers and airport staff, it has also been designed with you, our neighbours, in mind.
By ensuring smoother transfers between the various modes of transport (train, bus, tram, bicycle, car), Hub 3.0 will improve mobility in the region for everyone living in the airport area. So here’s a transformation that will benefit you directly and aims to better integrate the airport into its environment.
The existing terminal will be expanded on the Arrival and Departure levels to accommodate the growing number of passengers and improve the flow between the different floors and to and from the various modes of transport. To meet the expected demand for hotel rooms, we also plan to build a four-star hotel.
But more important for you as neighbours is the construction of the multimodal hub where the various modes of transport connect, allowing for seamless transfers between bus and train (and later also the tram).
A new, green boulevard with separate spacious lanes for trams, buses, cars and cyclists will take you to the multimodal hub.
Elevators and escalators connect the different floors of the hub, from the train station on level -1 to the departure hall on level +3. A large central atrium brings in fresh air, natural light and greenery. The whole structure is covered by a canopy in the shape of a giant cloud, making it a landmark departure and arrival point at the airport.
The entire project is scheduled for completion in 2032 at the latest.
An environmental permit application will be submitted shortly. As part of the public inquiry that will follow, we will organise an information session for all local residents in the autumn. During this information session, you will learn about the project in detail and we will explain the measures we will take to mitigate any inconvenience.
