In the spotlight: BATC.be

On 12 December 2018 air navigation services provider skeyes and Brussels Airport Company launched a totally revamped version of batc.be. Both companies aim to give the general public a better insight in their activities by providing all necessary information in a transparent way.

The first version of BATC or Brussels Airport Traffic Control came online in early 2015. With the launch of batc 2.0 the site not only became more user-friendly, it also offers more relevant information and new features.

The most important information is available on the homepage at a glance: an overview of the runways currently in use at Brussels Airport as well as a forecast of the most likely configuration for the coming hours. If the preferential runway system cannot be applied, the reason is explained. The most important statistics as well as the latest new scan also be found on the homepage.

Radar tracks showing aircraft flight paths are available much more quickly, after a technical delay of only 15 minutes instead of 60 minutes, as was the case with the old version of the site.

batc.be also wishes to take up a more didactical role by explaining the process to determine which runway(s) to use, and the impact of the wind, in detail. To do this the website was expanded with a section about the weather, allowing visitors to follow the observations and forecasts in real time.
