Brussels Airport expands its Asian network with the arrival of Air China in March 2026

Two new direct routes to Beijing and Chengdu, a new destination for Belgian travellers

Starting March 2026, Brussels Airport will welcome Air China. The Chinese national carrier will offer two major destinations: Beijing and Chengdu, a new destination for passengers departing from Brussels. As a member of the Star Alliance network, Air China strengthens Brussels Airport’s role as a European hub for the alliance.

From March 2026, Air China will operate direct flights from Brussels Airport to Beijing, China’s political and cultural capital, and Chengdu, previously served only by cargo flights from Brussels but soon also by passenger flights. Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, is renowned for its cuisine, scenic landscapes, and its giant panda research centre. Chengdu’s Tianfu Airport, inaugurated in 2021, is designed to become one of China’s largest hubs.

Flights to Beijing will begin on March 24, 2026, with five weekly frequencies before moving to a daily service for the summer season (from March 29). Starting March 26, 2026, Chengdu will be served three times per week. These schedules are designed to offer optimal connections and meet the needs of both business and leisure travellers.

With these new routes, Brussels Airport confirms the dynamism of its intercontinental network. Following the recent launch of direct flights to Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Chongqing, Air China’s arrival further enriches the offer for passengers and businesses traveling to Asia. From Beijing or Chengdu, travellers can also benefit from Air China’s convenient onward connections to numerous destinations across China and Asia.

As a Star Alliance member, Air China also reinforces Brussels Airport’s role as a European hub for the alliance, alongside home carrier Brussels Airlines. This integration provides travellers with direct access to the heart of Europe, home to international institutions, and facilitates connections across the continent and beyond through Star Alliance’s extensive network.
