At security screening, we check for any dangerous or prohibited items. The more you pack in your hand luggage, the longer the process may take. To speed things up, place anything you won’t need during your flight in your hold baggage.
Frequently asked questions
During the security check, you’ll walk through a Walk-Through Metal Detector (WTMD), which helps ensure the safety of all passengers. The radiation is minimal and comparable to the natural background radiation we’re exposed to every day. All passengers are required to pass through the WTMD. Your privacy is fully protected. The scan is automatically analysed by a computer. No images or data are stored.
If the scanner detects something that needs further inspection, a short manual check will follow. This can involve a pat-down of your entire body, but it's always done with care and respect. Sometimes the security officer will wear gloves or a face mask. Hand sanitiser is also available.
In some medical cases (including prostheses, stomas, or injuries) you can request an alternative screening, provided it falls within the applicable laws and regulations. Let our staff at the security lane know and they will do a manual check.
