About Banjul
Banjul, the capital of Gambia, was founded in 1816 when the British Colonial Administration took a military post on the river to combat the slave trade. The famous Albert Market is the place to be for bargain hunters. There’s a pleasant, chaotic bustle. The most striking point of the city is the Arch 22 national monument. A visit to the slave museum is also highly recommended!
