Bought something in Belgium? Here's how to get your VAT refund before departure.
You can claim a VAT refund if you meet the following conditions:
Ask for a tax-free form when paying at the store. Fill it out completely and attach the original receipt. Forgot to ask for the form? You can also use an official invoice to claim your VAT.
At the airport and checking in hold luggage? Visit the customs office in the departure hall before you check in your luggage.
Bring these items with you:
All set? Customs will give your form a stamp, which you’ll need to claim your VAT refund.
Go through security screening and passport control first, then visit the nearest customs office with your hand luggage.
Go to the customs office at the last European airport where you have a connecting flight, and bring your hand luggage with you.
Stop by this desk to get your VAT refund approved. Once it's done, you can pack the goods in your checked baggage and check them in.
