Hainan Airlines is launching nonstop flights between Shanghai and Brussels

On Wednesday 25 October, Chinese carrier Hainan Airlines opened a new nonstop service between Brussels Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

The first flight was inaugurated in the presence of Prime minister Charles Michel, Deputy Prime minister and minister of Employment, Economy and Consumers, Kris Peeters, minister of Transport François Bellot, Vice-President of Hainan Airlines Huo Wei, Chinese ambassador in Belgium Qu Xing and CEO of Brussels Airport Company Arnaud Feist.

The new route will be operated three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, using a Boeing Dreamliner 787-9.

The Brussels-Shanghai route is an important step in the development of Brussels Airport and the Belgian economy. Belgium has had important contacts with Shanghai for many years and there is increasing interest from the business world in both countries.

“In recent years, the Chinese metropolis has become an attractive destination for investments due to a steadily improving market position. Business leaders from both countries are reacting very positively to this new connection," says Arnaud Feist, CEO of Brussels Airport Company.
