Over 9,000 visitors for Aviation Day at Brussels Airport

On Saturday 22 April, Brussels Airport welcomed over 9,000 visitors for the second edition of Luchtvaartdag, the Flemish Aviation Day. The central hub of the event was located at Brucargo, the cargo area of Brussels Airport, where a village of white domes was erected in front of the new DHL hangar to accommodate the stands of the participating companies.

Nearly all major players at the airport participate including airport operator Brussels Airport Company, Brussels Airlines,TUI, DHL, Aviapartner, Autogrill, the federal police and the Belgian airforce.

Brussels Airport organised guided tours of the airport whereas Brussels Airlines and TUI organised bus tours to their maintenance hangars and offices.

For visitors who hadn’t succeeded in booking a seat on a guided tour, there was plenty to do and see on the central hub. The longest queues were to be found at the airforce’s F16 and C-130 on display. But the fact that the visitors could watch aircraft take off from so close up, made queueing much more fun.
