Steven Polmans spent most of his career in the world of aviation. For 15 years, he held management positions, both operational and commercial, in the handling industry at various airports and in a variety of sectors: from catering, cleaning, ramp handling to cargo.
On October 1, 2010, he joined The Brussels Airport Company as Cargo Marketing Manager. His main job as key account manager was to assist airline customers in their operations at Brussels Airport and to explore business development opportunities.
On February 1st, 2012, Steven was appointed Head of Cargo at Brussels Airport. In this position, he is responsible for developing and implementing the overall cargo strategy of the airport. He leads the cargo team and heads the different projects to further strengthen BRUcargo into Europe's most efficient cargo airport. He is also in charge of maintaining the relations with the different cargo stakeholders, government agencies and strategic partners in close cooperation with the cargo management team.
Since 2016, Steven is also the first chairman of the newly established air cargo organisation at BRUcargo, grouping all stakeholders involved: Air Cargo Belgium.
Johan Leunen initiated his career at the airport in 2000. Over a period of 10 years, Johan built experience and earned his credentials in the cargo handling industry. He first started working in the operations before moving to Customer Support and, later on, holding the function of Sales Manager.
Johan also enriched his career as Business and Market Development Manager in the Forwarding Industry.
On May 1st, 2012, Johan joined Brussels Airport Company as Cargo Marketing Manager. Johan’s main responsibilities include offering operational support to the cargo airlines and assisting in their development at Brussels Airport. Furthermore, he also plays a key role in attracting new carriers to Brussels Airport.
Marc Bogaerts has been working in aviation since more than 27 years, with experience in both handling (operations, IT) and airport related matters. Marc is Chairman of the 100’ Cargo Airport Committee and Chairman of the Brucargo Customs Taskforce.
Marc's main responsibilities are Operational airfreight issues (Normal handling procedures; Special handling and aircraft procedures), Customs procedures issues and inter-operator airfreight communications and data exchange.
Nathan De Valck has been working in the aviation industry since 2002, holding management positions in various sectors from catering, ramp handling to cargo. His cargo experience ranges from operations, legal compliance, business development to commercial key account management at several airports in Europe.
Nathan has joined Brussels Airport Company on July 1st, 2012 as Cargo Key Account Manager. Nathan’s main responsibilities include business development with the forwarders and other stakeholders, as well as leading different projects including the Brucargo Secured Gateway project. Nathan will also take the lead in further strengthening our positions as the pharmaceutical gateway in Western Europe. Different initiatives were started already and Nathan is the central contact person to further implement the learning and strategic initiatives.
Benny Vandenheuvel worked for 25 years at TNT Express at Brucargo where he held management positions in operations and general services, including 13 years as Manager Purchase, Facilities & Real Estate Benelux.
In June 2012, Benny joined Brussels Airport Company as Real Estate Manager Brucargo. His main responsibilities are to improve and manage the real estate developments at Brucargo and to optimize Brucargo’s park management by providing common, centralised facilities and services for the Brucargo community.
Benny is the first point of contact regarding real estate at Brucargo.
Sara Van Gelder graduated in 2013 from the K.U Leuven as a Commercial Engineer with a Master's in Logistics and International Business.
She started her professional career in the Contract Logistic department of Kuehne+Nagel as Project Coordinator. Later, via her role as Project Manager of Sky Fresh, she was introduced to the aviation industry, working on traceability and digitization of time and temperature sensitive goods.
Since May 2016 she joined the Cargo team of Brussels Airport Company. From now on she will be in charge of the different digitization projects and especially the BRUcloud within the Cargo department.
Christopher Bové graduated in 2004 from KH Mechelen College with a bachelor in Marketing Communications. He started his professional career as an event coordinator. Later on, he switched to the aviation industry where he worked for Airport Inspection at Brussels Airport.
After 6 years he combined his 2 passions aviation and marketing into his new job as Marketing Officer at Brussels Airport where he was responsible for trade marketing activities and airline related events.
In 2016 Christopher joined the BRUcargo team. He is responsible for organising cargo events, promoting BRUcargo at trade fairs and offering marketing support to the cargo team.
