Federal Airport Health Authority

Saniport, the Federal Airport Health Authority, implements the International Health Regulations (2005) at the Points of Entry - in Belgium's territory. It establishes a first health barrier against potential global health threats (e.g. SARS, pandemics) and actively participates in controlling vector-borne diseases (malaria, Chikungunya disease, West Nile virus).

The Federal Airport Health Authority officials monitor the hygiene status of the equipments used by airport passengers and are responsible for destroying luggage and consignments which represent a health risk.

They also issue certificates regarding the international transfer of mortal remains.
