New info centre in arrivals hall - 15/12/2009

Brussels Airport, 15 December 2009 - Brussels Airport opens a new information centre in the arrivals hall. The new centre unites several services to passengers and other airport visitors including the information desk, Lost & Found, the public address system and the telephone inquiries service.

In a later stage extra services will be added whereby the info centre will not only represent Brussels Airport but also third companies and organisations. These will include tourist information on behalf of the different regions as well as information about public transport and limousine services and later also assistance in finding accommodation in Belgium or tickets for cultural events.

The new desk brings together a variety of services within one centralised passenger information centre. The info centre staff will alternately carry out the various tasks of the department ranging from providing information and operating the public address system to manning the Lost & Found service and even the protocol services for the benefit of highly placed users of Brussels Airport.

The new desk replaces the smaller information desk that was operational in the departures hall these past fifteen years. A survey showed that the need for information in the departures and arrivals hall is very different. Where passengers in the departures hall mainly need help to find their way around the airport, passengers in the arrivals hall mainly look for information on means of transport. "An extensive survey of passengers and airlines showed that the need for information in the arrivals hall was bigger and that is why we decided to bring together all our passenger services in the very heart of the arrivals hall", explains Ruben Sicking, Director Operations of Brussels Airport. "The first passengers seemed very enthusiastic about the new service."
