Since 1999 The Brussels Airport Company has organised its environmental management according to the international standardization ISO 14001. In 2000, the company was officially certified. This implies that not only that the environmental management of The Brussels Airport Company is audited periodically by external auditors but also, and more importantly, that the Brussels Airport Company has given a commitment to continuously improving its environmental performance.
For the third time in March 2009, The Brussels Airport Company underwent a recertification audit by a team of external environmental auditors. Following a thorough investigation of the Brussels Airport Company's entire environmental management, the ISO 14001 certificate was renewed until 2012. The supervisory audits carried out in April 2010 and February 2011 went smoothly.
