Environmental policy statement

In its environmental policy statement, the management of The Brussels Airport Company endorses the essential importance of the environment in the sustainable development of the airport. New projects are already evaluated in their early stages as to their impact on the environment and have to take this into account in their further realisation.

All the actors at the airport contribute to this sustainability: the bars and restaurants, the shops, the handling companies, the maintenance services... This is why The Brussels Airport Company does what it can, within the scope of its competencies, to make sure that all its commercial partners at the airport pursue an equivalent environmental policy through information, consultation and sensitisation. Likewise, The Brussels Airport Company imposes contractual environmental requirements on these companies.

The environmental policy of The Brussels Airport Company is based on five pillars:

  • working on conformity with the relevant legislation and rules;
  • integrating environment conservation throughout all departments via on-going training;
  • working on the preventive approach of environmental impact;
  • continuously evaluating and improving the whole environmental performance;
  • supplying information and setting up a dialogue on the environmental aspects of the airport.
