On Monday 12 October Brussels Airport for the very first time welcomed an Airbus A350 XWB on its tarmac. Finnair's A350 with registration OH-LWA touched down on runway 25L at about a quarter past nine. A great moment for plane spotters and airport staff alike!
The plane then proceeded to its stand where it was given the traditional water salute by the airport fire brigade.
As of February 2016 the plane will become a regular visitor of Brussels Airport with two flights a week on Wednesday and Thursday.
The A350 XWB not only enables Finnair to carry more passengers, but also transport more cargo than the A340-300, the aircraft currently used to operate the Helsinki-Brussels route. Approximately 30% of all air cargo at Brussels Airport is transported on board passenger aircraft.
