Friday 6 June saw the opening of American Airlines' direct service to Charlotte in North Carolina. A first for Brussels Airport because until now this route had never been served from Brussels.
With several speeches and a water salute by the airport fire service, the take-off of the B767-200 did not go unnoticed. Both the arriving passengers and departing passengers were treated to Belgian chocolates to mark the occasion.
Charlotte airport ranks among the 30 busiest airports in the world and is an important hub. From 5 June to 18 August, AA will operate a seasonal four weekly service with a B767-200 seating 200 passengers.
If you intend to fly to the States this summer, the network from Brussels Airport now includes Atlanta, Chicago, JFK, Newark, Washington, Philadelphia and Charlotte.
