Some of the features of Pier A are so ingenious that the user doesn’t even notice them. In spite of the enormous glass surfaces on both sides of the pier (660 meter long, 24 meter high) the sometimes considerable difference between inside and outside temperature has hardly any impact whether on dog days or when the pier is peacefully covered with snow. The screeching of aircraft engines when they start up at the gate or the noise they make when the plane takes off from the runway: you have to really cock your ears to actually hear it. Pay attention to it when you next visit the pier. Already back in 2002, we chose to use high-technology multi-layered glass with perfect sound and heat insulation properties. A choice we continue to reap the rewards of today.
