On 12 June, the American carrier United Airlines celebrated 20 years of interrupted service on the Brussels Airport – Washington route.
The first flight on this route took off from Brussels in June 1992. In the past two decades United Airlines has transported over 4.4 million passengers on three routes: Washington, Chicago and – since its merger with Continental – Newark.
The 20th anniversary of its operations at Brussels was celebrated with a speech by Marcel Fuchs, Managing Director Sales Continental Europe with United Airlines, and Léon Verhallen, Head of Aviation Marketing with The Brussels Airport Company. To mark the occasion, the passengers were treated to American-style cupcakes.
