Substantial road works during the summer

June 7, 2011

The road works on the Vilvoorde fly-over the Agency for Roads and Traffic will be carrying out this summer, are expected to cause major traffic delays on most of the access roads to Brussels Airport. Travellers coming to the airport from various directions (Ghent, Leuven, Liège, Namur, but also Antwerp...) are advised to take the necessary precautions.

Moreover travellers coming from the Netherlands/Turnhout/Antwerp should expect additional delays due to other road maintenance sites including on motorway E19 Kontich – Mechelen-Noord, on the E313 between Antwerpen-Oost and Ranst and on the E19 Kleine Bareel – Antwerpen-Noord.

More details about the different road work sites and how they affect travel times are available on

Brussels Airport advises its passengers to provide ample time during the whole summer period for travelling to the airport to make sure they arrive well ahead of their scheduled departure time.
