Aegean Airlines' inaugural flight to Thessaloniki took off on Monday morning 2 June. The Greek carrier will operate the new weekly service using an Airbus A319.
To mark the occasion, the pilots and cabin crew were treated to a box of Belgian chocolates.
Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece and is known as the cultural capital of the country boasting numerous cultural festival and events. For those who'ld rather party: in 2010 Lonely Planet rated Thessaloniki the fifth best ‘party city’ in the world.
During the summer season, Aegean Airlines also increases the frequency on its existing routes to Athens, Rhodes, Corfu and Heraklion.
