The construction of an underground rail link
In October 2007 work has started on the construction of an underground rail link between the train station at the airport and the new railway line Schaarbeek - Mechelen that is to be constructed on the central reservation of the E19 motorway. Travellers from the Antwerp - Mechelen region will be able to travel non-stop to the airport without the inconvenience of first having to pass through Brussels. This new link requires major construction works, including the boring of two tunnels under the runway, and will be taken into service in 2012.

Brucargo West
Currently the cargo area of Brussels Airport is being expanded. Roads and utilities of Brucargo West are already in place and a first 30,000mē logistics building is under construction.
Plans for the future include an exciting office building project.
